Stupendous news! Did you ever hear the story of the Trashcan Sinatras back in around 1990 when offered slot in some big showcase for Radio 1, but they turned it down cos it was sponsored by Nestle - always good principled boys. Pity it's been good music, but bad luck for them ever since, though.
Never heard that, am looking forward to the gig. Only hope there are no 'fairground attraction' numbers played!
Now that I think about it, it was actually an NME showcase for the best up and coming bands that was going to get aired on Radio 1 - just thought I'd mention it.
The rally has "got to be, Perfect." You'll be mouthing the words to that one, no doubt!Have you ever asked the organiser of this Rally - Colin Fox - why Trash Can Sinatras and Edie Reader werent there.
What is about folk like that they put speakers and bands on posters without confirming it with the people in question. It's called getting people along on false pretences. I wisnae the only one hacked off about that.
The bands in question then have to put in an embarrassing "apology" of why they couldnt make it - and usually decide to give the whole thing a wide berth in furture.

Have you asked him Kevin? As far as Colin was aware they were coming.
My problems with the rally were that there was not enough time put into organising it and that effected the turnout. A low visibility from the SSP too, although we were the main organisers. Though if it had been otherwise some people would accuse us of running a front or taking it over no doubt.
