Herald - Socialists name list candidates for May

"THE Scottish Socialist party yesterday unveiled its full list of candidates for the regional lists next May and said their calibre proved that, while the party may still be led by Tommy Sheridan, it was no long a one-man band.

In fact the band of brothers will include many sisters come next May. Mr Sheridan said that, after the third successive month on 8% in the NFO System Three poll in The Herald it was clear that in any of the eight regions the top SSP candidate had a chance, and in some areas, particularly Glasgow, two could conceivably go through.

With six MSPs the party could form a group to earn a place in the parliament's business bureau and demand more time for its debates and amendments. "
